Devon Way Level 5 Apprenticeship in Operational & Departmental Management in Partnership with PMA
Devon Training Hub is working in collaboration with PMA to deliver the Level 5 Operations or Departmental Manager Apprenticeship Standard, enhanced with a Devon Way-specific curriculum overlay tailored for leaders working in primary care settings across Devon.
Who is this for?
This certified programme is ideal for individuals who:
- Manage teams or projects
- Are responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals
- Play a key role in delivering their organisation’s strategic aims
Programme Structure
- Duration: 20 months total (including 3-month End Point Assessment period)
- Qualification: Level 5 Leadership & Management Apprenticeship Standard
- Additional Recognition: PMA / Devon Way Certificate of Proficiency
What’s Included?
Every learner will be fully supported by a dedicated team, including:
- A subject specialist Tutor
- A Functional Skills Tutor (if needed)
- A Wellbeing Coach
- A Devon Way Facilitator
- Access to a local tutor for ongoing support and progress tracking
Monthly Commitments
- Monthly teaching and learning sessions (2–4.5 hours, depending on topic)
- Monthly learner review (45 mins to 1 hour)
- Twelve-weekly tripartite review with the learner, employer, and tutor
- Evidence of 6 hours per week off-the-job learning
- Completion of an Improvement Initiative Project beneficial to your workplace
We support learning through:
- Online learning resources
- Practical workshops
- Reading and reflective activities
Face-to-Face Learning Summits
Learners will also attend two full-day, face-to-face Learning Summits as part of their Devon Way experience. These in-person sessions are designed to:
- Deepen leadership and management skills
- Facilitate networking and peer support
- Offer shared learning and reflective practice
- Celebrate key milestones in your development
On Completion
Graduates of this programme will:
- Receive the Level 5 Apprenticeship Standard in Leadership & Management
- Achieve the PMA / Devon Way Certificate of Proficiency
- Be eligible to register as a full member with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and/or the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)
- Those with 3+ years of management experience may also apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI
Practice and Learner Commitment
This programme requires support from both the learner and their practice. Practices are expected to provide:
- Protected learning time
- Cost and time for backfill to support full participation
