The rationale for adopting group clinic spread in primary care
There is a strong evidence base for this way of working with patients in primary care. By adopting this practice at scale, practices and PCNs will realise the following benefits:
- Clinician time savings; up to 80% efficiency gains
- Improved QOF achievement; up by 18% after 12 months
- Improved access; more efficient delivery of extended hours appointments
- Patients making more health-related behaviour changes
- A way of overcoming estate limitations using video group clinics (VGCs)
- Improved caregiver job satisfaction, driven by an increased sense of autonomy over delivery of care, deeper relationships with patients and an energising experience of caregiving
- More flexible working options for staff facilitated by VGCs
