We are delighted to share with you that Devon ICB has funded the continued development of a programme of support for GPs, the GP Connect Programme.
Following the success of both the GP Reconnect programme and the New to Practice Program (NTPP) for GPs post CCT, we have extended our educational offer to all Devon GPs who are two years post CCT.
The GPConnect Program Plan:
Quarterly, full-day, CPD events themed around challenging clinical situations. Speakers and workshops will be offered with the aim that you come away with ideas and information to shape clinical approaches. In addition to the formal learning there will be lots of opportunities to network and connect with fellow GPs.
These will be held in the Exeter Future Skills centre which is based near Exeter Airport.
In addition, and support networking opportunities the programme will include monthly virtual evening meetings which will be facilitated by an experienced GP educator, the content of these meetings will alternate:
- Action Learning Sets (ALS): These groups have been successfully used on the NTPP for many years now. Small groups which use the wisdom of the team to learn from challenging situations or clinical conundrums.
- Practice Based Small Group Learning (PBSGL): Run successfully in various parts of the country as well as within several PCNs in Devon, these sessions use clinical “modules” with pre-prepared learning materials to spark conversations. Clinical topics range from acne to uro-gynae taking in many others including leadership and wellbeing on the way. Facilitators choose the topic ahead of time and group members share the responsibility of delivery of content and discussion.
Although there is no Mentorship built into this program, GPs are reminded that Devon Training Hub offers Mentor opportunities to GPs.
In addition to the formal programme above we may have capacity to invite GPs who are not on the programme along to the full day CPD events so would ask you to indicate whether you would be interested in participating in the GPConnect programme or attending the CPD events in your expression of interest.
We look forward to hearing from you about this opportunity. The start of the program will be November 2025 with plans to offer a further intake in 2026 based on demand.
