Grief and Bereavement training

£100Aims –
This workshop aims to help you understand some of the processes involved with grief, seek to dispel some of the misunderstandings surrounding communicating with the bereaved and will describe some of the ways to sensitively approach conversations to establish trust. By the end of the session we hope you feel more confident about supporting someone who is grieving.
Objectives –
There will be time to reflect on your own feelings with each other and professionals who are passionate about caring for people who are approaching the end of their lives and their families, friends and carers .
This is not a grief counselling session.
Content –
· attitudes towards death
· the individual nature of grief
· stages of grief and other grief models
· grieving rituals
· the role of the bereavement counsellor
· a child and adolescent view of death
· the principal components of grief
· complicated grief
· bereavement support for children
· Complex grief and when to refer on (and where to refer on)
· Endings and the importance of boundaries and not becoming friends
· Identifying trauma and having the confidence to flag this
· Spirituality and the confidence to talk about beliefs and/or lack of beliefs
· Meaning and purpose
· Healthy grieving
· Finding acceptance (what is it and how can it be found)
· We don’t get over grief but we can transcend it.
