In April 2023, practices will have received an email from NHS England regarding the Learning Organisation (LO) approval process and a follow-up email from Devon Training Hub (DTH) in May 2023.
This process assesses your Learning Organisation (usually over your PCN footprint) via submission of appropriate evidence and a visiting panel. This will result in a recommendation to the NHS England Quality Assurance Group for Primary Care Learners regarding the suitability to become an approved NHS England Learning Organisation, enabling the Learning Organisation to host placements for all multidisciplinary learners.
One of the benefits for your PCN is the reduction in practice reapproval visits. The Learning Organisation approval process will replace the 3-yearly face-to-face practice reapproval meetings by the School of Primary Care, moving to one unified approval for all professional groups. This new process will be a one-off panel meeting for each PCN with a light touch annual return to include a Learning Organisation update. The panel meeting will include the relevant Approved Education Institutes (AEI) which may reduce the profession-specific audits AEIs are required to undertake in the future.
We now have 10 approved Learning Organisations in Devon:
Mid Devon Healthcare
South Hams PCN
Baywide PCN
Exeter West PCN
TASC PCN
Pathfields PCN
Newton West PCN
Drake Medical Alliance PCN
