The guidance was updated in 2020 and our initial training sessions include the following: \n  \n\nThe NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nThe background to cervical screening\nOrganisation of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nEquality of access to cervical screening\nUnderstanding the test results\nAnatomy and physiology of the pelvic organs\nPractical aspects and professional responsibilities of taking cervical samples\n\n  \nTrainees will receive initial theory and practical training with our Clinical Educators before completing the rest of the programme by undertaking supported procedures in practice with their Mentor.  The whole programme can take up to 6 months to complete\, but can take as little as 6 weeks if there are sufficient appointments available to the Trainee. \nLearning and Development Centre provides a detailed programme of work to follow\, a Training Portfolio and Training Handbook\, and professional support for Sample Taker Trainees and their Mentors throughout the programme. DESCRIPTION:Target Audience: who is this suitable for? – GPs and registered Nurses/Practitioners with a special interest on Women’s health \nAreas to be covered: \n\nTeach pessary management of pelvic organ prolapse in line with 2021 UKCS guidelines\n\nTo be achieved through these objectives: \n\nFollow UKCS guidelines and log book for practical assessment\nUnderstanding basics of pelvic floor assessment for prolapse and symptoms\nTeach sizing and fitting of FP10 available pessaries in models\n\nLearning outcomes i.e by the end of this activity\, attendees should be able to \n\nDeliver best practice in non surgical treatment of prolapse according to standardised UKCS guidelines\nAssessment of pelvic organ prolapse and appropriate choice of management with pessary or referral onwards.\nUndertake practical sizing and fitting of available pessaries (FP10) and completion of relevant competencies given in log book standards.\n\nEvidence/guidelines and/or other resources (e.g. patient/service user input) that have been used to inform the content \n\n2021 UKCS UK clinical guideline for best practice in the use of vaginal pessaries for pelvic organ prolapse.\nPractical use of pessaries on demonstration models\n\nDelivery method e.g. live webinar/pre-recorded video/face to face training etc. \n\n2 x face to face lectures with practical session on demo models at the end\nSome face to face with patients can be offered to those clinicians that require further support.\n\nLength of the activity i.e how many CPD hours? \n\nEach session will last approx. 3 to 4 hours\n\nMaterials available to the learner before\, during or after the activity \n\nhttps://www.ukcs.uk.net/UK-Pessary-Guideline-2021\nEach learner is expectedhttps://forms.office.com/e/E2h9DW9zUJ to have these guidelines with log book printed off and with them at session.\n\nThis event is now full\, please express your interest for the other dates – 17th July & 17th October
