A free wellbeing support helpline operated by the Samaritans and available from 7.00am – 11.00pm seven days a week, providing confidential listening from trained professionals.

Stay Alive App

NHS and social care staff have free access to the Stay Alive app which aims to provide help to people with existing mental health concerns, suicidal thoughts, and those struggling in self-isolation. It provides information to help colleagues stay safe, including advice for people concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide.

Available for free through the App Store and Google Play, the app is fully functional for offline use once downloaded. Users also have the option to create a profile to synchronise their data for use with the online version.

Headspace

Headspace is a science-backed app in mindfulness and meditation, providing unique tools and resources to help reduce stress, build resilience, and aid better sleep.

Unmind is a mental health platform that empowers staff to proactively improve their mental wellbeing. Using scientifically backed assessments, tools and training you can measure and manage your personal mental health needs, including digital programmes designed to help with stress, sleep, coping, connection, fulfilment and nutrition.

Sleepio is a clinically evidenced sleep improvement programme that is fully automated and highly personalised, using cognitive behavioural techniques to help improve poor sleep.

Thrive uses games to track your mood and teach you methods to take control of stress and anxiety. Learn relaxation techniques like meditation and deep breathing to help you cope better with stressful situations and manage negative thoughts.

WorryTree App

The WorryTree app aims to help you take control of worry wherever you are. You can use the app to record whatever you feel worried about. It uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques to help you notice and challenge your worries. It can also help you create an action plan for managing worry.

The app can be downloaded free from the App Store, Google Play, or the developer’s website.

Chill Panda

Learn to relax, manage your worries and improve your wellbeing with Chill Panda. The app measures your heart rate and suggests tasks to suit your state of mind. Tasks include simple breathing techniques and light exercises to take your mind off your worries. The app can be downloaded free from the App Store or Google Play.

Cove App

Create music to capture your mood and express how you feel with the Cove app. Instead of words, create music to reflect emotions like joy, sadness, calm and anger. You can store your music in a personal journal or send them to someone and let the music do the talking. The app can be downloaded free from the App Store.

distrACT App

The distrACT app gives you easy, quick and discreet access to information and advice about self-harm and suicidal thoughts. The content has been created by doctors and experts in self-harming and suicide prevention.

The app can be downloaded free from the App Store, Google Play.
