Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health Professions) Full-time 

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a course that enables you to progress to university. The Health Professionals pathway is ideal for anyone interested in working in: 

  • Adult Nursing 
  • Paediatric Nursing 
  • Paramedicine 
  • Mental Health Nursing 
  • Midwifery 
  • Occupational Therapy 
  • Physiotherapy 
  • Speech and Language Therapy 
  • Any other health professional role 

The Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care is a part knowledge based and part competency-based qualification for which you will achieve 46 QCF Credits. 


Are serious about pursuing an exciting, challenging career in health and social care, and have a genuine interest in finding out about the varying needs of people of all ages? If so, this Health & Social Care programme can give you a valuable qualification that opens doors to university, apprenticeship or employment. 


This is a competency-based course recognising your ability to gain a good knowledge and understanding of a subject and to perform varied tasks in your workplace.

Higher Development Award

The Higher Development Award (HDA) is a personal development programme for Support Workers that enables Clinical and Non-Clinical Support Workers from all sectors to “Be the best and acknowledge potential”. 



First developed in 2016, Learning and Development Leads at Health Education England (HEE) identified what additional training would mean to further develop the support workforce following the Care Certificate leading to the Higher Development Award (HDA).

T-Level

The T Level in Health is an exciting opportunity to gain knowledge, understanding, skills and behaviours for a career in the health and care sector. It is a two-year, Level 3 qualification which is equivalent to three A Levels and has UCAS points attached. 


The Health and Social Care Level 2 programme is a one-year course that is delivered using the fantastic facilities at our Paignton Campus. The course is designed to develop your knowledge and skills ready to progress onto the Health: Supporting the Adult Nursing Team T Level


This Level 2 T Level Foundation Year course will develop the fundamental skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work in the Health and Social Care and Early Years sectors and move on to the T Level course. 


This course is a two-year programme aimed at learners who wish to develop their technical knowledge and skills working in the Healthcare Sector, pursuing a career in Adult Nursing, Midwifery or Mental Health Nursing. 

Access Courses


The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a course that enables you to progress to university. 


Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress onto Higher Education. This course is ideal if you want to re-direct your career into areas, amongst others, such as social work, teaching or health and social care management

If so, this one year, full-time, CAVA-awarded course could be just what you need.

Introductory Courses

This virtual taster session is specially tailored to provide the key introduction you need to get started and launch your career in care. If you are interested in working in the care sector but don’t know where to start, then this is perfect for you! 


This course will develop your knowledge and awareness of health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings.


The course is designed for people looking to get into healthcare. This 12-week course will support you to gain the knowledge, and skills required to be successful at interview and be offered employment at The Brook, a new regional learning disability and autism unit in Dawlish. 

Cadet Schemes

Supported by HRH Prince of Wales, the RCN Prince of Wales Nursing Cadet Scheme helps young people develop their skills and support them towards a career in nursing. 


NHS Cadets is a new programme aimed at young people aged 14 to 18 providing opportunities to explore roles in healthcare. The aim of the programme is to reach a diverse range of young people who have barriers to entering health volunteering and/or a healthcare career. 


In partnership with NHS, their mission is to attract, develop and prepare 14–18-year-olds (up to 25 for young people with a disability and/or special educational needs) to enter and be able to sustain themselves in health volunteering opportunities. 


NHS Cadets is a youth volunteering programme established by NHS England. It is delivered by St John Ambulance, working in partnership with local NHS trusts and healthcare providers across the country.
