SUMMARY:Young people’s mental health\, digital communication & social media training
DESCRIPTION:The Online Communication and Social media training\, commissioned by NHS England\, is suitable and open to: \nOutpatient CYPMHS staff \nSocial media and mental health; two topics that dominate the narrative surrounding young people’s lives. Fast-moving technological advances have given rise to new risks such as cyberbullying and harmful content\, but have also provided the tools for better social connections and communities to thrive and grow. How can we take a balanced view of social media in relation to young people’s mental health? Can we foster an honest discussion with the young people in our lives about the risks and benefits that it brings? How can we identify when things are going wrong and when to intervene? We explore these topics with young people and mental health professionals in our unique\, co-produced training. \nThis latest training resource will focus on the role of social media and online communications in young people’s (16-25) mental health journeys and will focus on the following themes: \n\nNon-Stigmatising Conversations: Learn to discuss internet and social media usage in a supportive and engaging manner\, acknowledging their role in young people’s safety and identity.\nBalancing the Online World: Help young people distinguish between social media and the “real world” while recognising the value of genuine connections and friendships formed online.\nEstablishing Healthy Boundaries: Safely address the topic of boundaries on social media and digital communication\, ensuring young people’s expression and well-being.\nUnderstanding Social Media’s Impact: Explore the positive and negative aspects of social media\, unveiling its influence on young people’s lives.\n\nIf you have any questions about the event please contact team@peopleun.limited \nPeople Unlimited has been commissioned by NHS England to co-produce this online training aimed at anyone who supports a young person (age 16-25) with their mental health. \nThe learning material is drawn from consultations with: young people who have lived experience of accessing mental health support; parents/carers; and a practitioner group (comprising educators and CYPMHS staff\, both inpatient and outpatient) chaired by Dr Ann York. \nSign up here: Outpatient CYPMHS staff (30th November 09:30 – 12:30)
