Dr Hannah Claxton
GP Lead – New to Practice Programme
I divide my time between clinical work as a GP partner in Exeter and roles in postgraduate education. I work as a TPD for the Exeter and East Devon VTS and as a the GP Lead for the Devon New to Practice Programme.
I have experienced first-hand the benefit that the fellowship offers as a newly qualified GP – a supportive network, educational opportunities, mentoring and coaching – and I am passionate about supporting our primary care workforce to thrive in our roles and careers.
Outside of work hours I enjoy juggling two small children, a dog and the renovation of a dilapidated farmhouse as well as exploring the East Devon countryside.

I was born and raised in New Zealand; however, I’ve also lived in Japan, Australia and now the UK. I’ve previously worked in Education, Customer Service and Administration. Outside of the office, I love to go wild swimming, camping and travelling with my partner.
My role within Devon Training Hub is to provide support to the Programme Team in the form of helping with applications, queries and coordinating events etc.

GPN Lead – New to Practice Programme
I joined Devon Training Hub in October 2023 as a Nurse Lead for the New To Practice programme. I have been a practice nurse for 20 Years and am currently a Nurse Partner in a busy town practice within South Devon, as well as having just completed my master’s degree in clinical education.
In my free time, I enjoy walking my energetic spaniels Isla and Ollie, baking cakes and I have recently started to crochet. My role within Devon Training Hub will be to provide development and educational opportunities to meet the current and evolving challenges in primary care and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care from appropriately skilled General Practice nurses.
