SUMMARY:2-Day Assessment and Management of MSK Presentations and Injuries seen in Primary Care
DESCRIPTION:This is a two day course for all practitioners working in Primary Care or in Minor Injury/Urgent Care areas. \nMSK complaints find their way on to our lists in many different guises. Patients present with painful ankles\, elbows\, shoulders\, and backs to name a few\, and in many cases\, patients have not seemingly injured themselves or described having an injury or accident. \nWe also see\, lacerations\, burns\, splinters\, lumps and swellings\, bruises\, inflammation\, and cellulitis in our day-to-day work. \nAre you confident and competent in their management? Do you know when to refer in or request an x-ray? Do you know how to competently examine a joint?  \nThis course can be used to update and consolidate your knowledge or for practitioners new in this field of practice\, this is an opportunity to learn the skills of joint examination and much much more. \nThis course covers \n\n\n\nMinor Injury History Taking\nMinor injury Examination\, including MSK joint examination.\nThe injured child\, and older adult\nTissue Healing and wound closure\nMusculoskeletal Injury including sprains and fractures\, swellings\, bumps\, and bruises.\nTo x-ray or not to x-ray… and when to refer.\nAnatomy and physiology\nHead injury.\nBack pain\nBurns and Scalds\n\n\n\nThe Assessment and Management of Minor Injuries in Primary Care course is delivered over 2 days with the days being split two weeks apart to support practices not having practitioners away from practice on two consecutive days. \nDay 1 – 7th September 2026. 9am-4pm online on Microsoft Teams \nDay 2 – 21st September 2026. 9am-4pm online on Microsoft Teams \nPlaces are limited on this course\, so early booking is advised due to its popularity and its ability to address the needs of those starting to see Minor Injuries and those wishing to refresh and update their skills in this broad topic. \nPlease contact: communications@aspireclinicaltraining.co.uk for more information or to reserve a place on the course. This must take place before the Trainee can undertake any of the practical elements of the Cervical Sample Taker Training programme.  \nMentors of Trainees must hold a valid PIN and have undertaken a Sample Taking Foundation or Update course within the last 3 years.  For the full list of eligibility criteria please read the Mentor Guide. \nInvitations to this session will be sent on receipt of the Mentor Information Form – this is sent in the first instance to the Trainee who will send it to the nominated professional in practice.  \nNOTE – Attendance at this session is MANDATORY unless certain criteria are met and Mentor absence is agreed in advance with the CSTT Administrator.  If an additional Mentor Introduction session is required to ensure full compliance with government guidelines\, a fee of £25 will be charged to cover administration and educator costs and facilitation. EX15 1JX. \nThe aim of this course is to support Cervical Sample Taker Trainees to maintain high standards of sample taking in accordance with local and national standards. The guidance was updated in 2023 and our initial training sessions include the following: \n\nThe NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nThe background to cervical screening\nOrganisation of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nEquality of access to cervical screening\nUnderstanding the test results\nAnatomy and physiology of the pelvic organs\nPractical aspects and professional responsibilities of taking cervical samples\n\nTrainees will receive initial theory and practical training with our Clinical Educators before completing the rest of the programme by undertaking supported procedures in practice with their Mentor.  The whole programme can take up to 6 months to complete\, but can take as little as 6 weeks if there are sufficient appointments available to the Trainee. \nLearning and Development Centre provides a detailed programme of work to follow\, a Training Portfolio and Training Handbook\, and professional support for Sample Taker Trainees and their Mentors throughout the programme. DESCRIPTION:As per the PHE and RCN guidance National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training\, the Cornwall Training Hub Workforce Immunisation Update Training will cover: \n\nThe aims of vaccination\, national vaccine policy and schedules.\nThe immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work.\nVaccine preventable diseases.\nThe different types of vaccines\, their composition and their indications and contraindications.\nCurrent issues in vaccination.\nCommunicating with patients\, parents and carers about vaccines.\nLegal Issues as applied to vaccination: consent and legal mechanisms to supply and administer vaccines.\nStorage and handling of vaccines.\nPlus – a Q&A session for problems encountered in practice: Engaging in an interactive session to address practical challenges and questions from participants.\n\nThe training covers core immunisation topics that are universally relevant\, ensuring that even those focusing on specific diseases are aware of the entire national programme.  This comprehensive awareness enables all participants to become effective vaccine champions\, promoting vaccination at every opportunity.  By integrating these elements\, our programme aims to create a well-rounded and effective immunisation workforce. \nOur immunisation training programme is interdisciplinary\, incorporating the diverse range of healthcare workers now involved in immunisation. This approach improves understanding of different professional roles and responsibilities\, fostering better collaboration and positively impacting patient outcomes. \nThis training is a blended learning programme that consists of 2 MANDATORY components: \n\nPRIOR LEARNING is mandatory for this training programme (full details can be found in the course profile document in the ‘Resources’ section once you have booked. DESCRIPTION:As per the PHE and RCN guidance National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training\, the Cornwall Training Hub Workforce Immunisation Update Training will cover: \n\nThe aims of vaccination\, national vaccine policy and schedules.\nThe immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work.\nVaccine preventable diseases.\nThe different types of vaccines\, their composition and their indications and contraindications.\nCurrent issues in vaccination.\nCommunicating with patients\, parents and carers about vaccines.\nLegal Issues as applied to vaccination: consent and legal mechanisms to supply and administer vaccines.\nStorage and handling of vaccines.\nPlus – a Q&A session for problems encountered in practice: Engaging in an interactive session to address practical challenges and questions from participants.\n\nThe training covers core immunisation topics that are universally relevant\, ensuring that even those focusing on specific diseases are aware of the entire national programme.  This comprehensive awareness enables all participants to become effective vaccine champions\, promoting vaccination at every opportunity.  By integrating these elements\, our programme aims to create a well-rounded and effective immunisation workforce. \nOur immunisation training programme is interdisciplinary\, incorporating the diverse range of healthcare workers now involved in immunisation. This approach improves understanding of different professional roles and responsibilities\, fostering better collaboration and positively impacting patient outcomes. \nThis training is a blended learning programme that consists of 2 MANDATORY components: \n\nPRIOR LEARNING is mandatory for this training programme (full details can be found in the course profile document in the ‘Resources’ section once you have booked.
