This must take place before the Trainee can undertake any of the practical elements of the Cervical Sample Taker Training programme.  \nMentors of Trainees must hold a valid PIN and have undertaken a Sample Taking Foundation or Update course within the last 3 years.  For the full list of eligibility criteria please read the Mentor Guide. \nInvitations to this session will be sent on receipt of the Mentor Information Form – this is sent in the first instance to the Trainee who will send it to the nominated professional in practice.  \nNOTE – Attendance at this session is MANDATORY unless certain criteria are met and Mentor absence is agreed in advance with the CSTT Administrator.  If an additional Mentor Introduction session is required to ensure full compliance with government guidelines\, a fee of £25 will be charged to cover administration and educator costs and facilitation. The guidance was updated in 2023 and our initial training sessions include the following: \n  \n\nThe NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nThe background to cervical screening\nOrganisation of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nEquality of access to cervical screening\nUnderstanding the test results\nAnatomy and physiology of the pelvic organs\nPractical aspects and professional responsibilities of taking cervical samples\n\n  \nTrainees will receive initial theory and practical training with our Clinical Educators before completing the rest of the programme by undertaking supported procedures in practice with their Mentor.  The whole programme can take up to 6 months to complete\, but can take as little as 6 weeks if there are sufficient appointments available to the Trainee. \nLearning and Development Centre provides a detailed programme of work to follow\, a Training Portfolio and Training Handbook\, and professional support for Sample Taker Trainees and their Mentors throughout the programme. DESCRIPTION:Frailty and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) Masterclass – 14th May 2026 – 13.00 to 16:30.  \nIn person Study Day with Dr David Attwood\, Frailty Specialist GP.\nTouchdown 2 Room\, Future Skills Centre\, Exeter College\, Exeter Airport Industrial Estate\, EX5 2LJ\nFrailty and CGA masterclass: Longer\, Better Lives for Patients — and an Easier\, More Fulfilling Job for You \n  \nFrailty is the single most important long-term condition in the NHS—driving more hospital admissions\, higher mortality\, and greater social care costs than almost anything else. It hides in plain sight\, often undiagnosed until crisis hits. \n  \nBut frailty is not inevitable. With early identification and a single\, well-delivered Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)\, delivered in the community we can help older people live longer\, live better—and at the same time\, cut the workload for health and care teams. \nSuitable for: Professionals working in Health and Social Care \nStudy Day Aims: To increase skills and knowledge with regard to the identification and management of older people with frailty\, leading to the improved population health of older people which translates into reduced healthcare utilisation. \nLearning Outcomes: \n1.
