TA2 8BU \nWith Learning and Development Centre Clinical Educator Julie Frost \nIn person training\, suitable for all Healthcare Professionals. \nPlease note that following this course it is expected that delegates will return to a suitable healthcare setting and complete a competency document under the supervision of an experienced practitioner.  The certificate of attendance at this training session and the completed competency document together evidence proficiency in phlebotomy.  \nCourse Aim: \n\nTo understand how to perform venepuncture safely and effectively.\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n•       Define venepuncture. \n•       Identify suitable veins for venepuncture. \n•       Explore the problems in identifying suitable veins for venepuncture. \n•       Identify complications. \n•       Demonstrate health and safety awareness. \n•       Anatomy and physiology of the arm. \n•       Demonstrate understanding  of the appropriate  equipment required \n•       Perform venepuncture safety under stimulated conditions \n•       Describe infection prevention measures \n•       Identify the action required in the event of a needle stick injury \n\nEffectively communicate with patients\n\nIf you no longer require your place on this course place cancel it so that there is availability for other delegates.  To cancel a booking please log into your Learning and Development Centre account and navigate to the Courses page.  \nIf you have any questions please contact the team at ldc.sentinel@nhs.net
