Non-registered staff will require approval from their workplace to manage complex wounds. \nLearning outcomes: \n1. Assess a wound confidently. \n2. Identify problems\, signs of infection and how to manage these. \n3. Feel more confident when assessing and planning care for a patient’s wound(s). \n4. Understand how and when to refer a patient to other specialists or teams. \n5. Be able to pack a cavity wound safely. \n6. The guidance was updated in 2023 and our initial training sessions include the following: \n  \n\nThe NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nThe background to cervical screening\nOrganisation of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nEquality of access to cervical screening\nUnderstanding the test results\nAnatomy and physiology of the pelvic organs\nPractical aspects and professional responsibilities of taking cervical samples\n\n  \nTrainees will receive initial theory and practical training with our Clinical Educators before completing the rest of the programme by undertaking supported procedures in practice with their Mentor.  The whole programme can take up to 6 months to complete\, but can take as little as 6 weeks if there are sufficient appointments available to the Trainee. \n  \nLearning and Development Centre provides a detailed programme of work to follow\, a Training Portfolio and Training Handbook\, and professional support for Sample Taker Trainees and their Mentors throughout the programme. The session will also cover weight loss drugs including GLP-1. \nThe training will be led by Michelle Turner (nursing and Long-Term Condition Specialist). \nWhat is it? \nContent includes: \n– Background: How we should be thinking about living with obesity \n– Health Impacts of obesity – latest research and relationship between obesity and disease \n– Identifying benefits\, barriers and risks of activity for people who are overweight or obeses \n– Weight loss drugs – considerations for supporting people on weight loss drugs including GLP-1 \n– Key resources – access valuable tools and resources to support your practice and help patients become more active \nWho is it for? \nThis training is for anyone working within health who has direct contact with patients\, particularly those working within weight management. SUMMARY:Championing Movement for Health – PACC Training
DESCRIPTION:Active Devon\, in partnership with Active Cornwall\, is facilitating Physical Activity Clinical Champions (PACC) training for people working in healthcare. \nThe aim of this training is to increase the knowledge\, skills and confidence of practicing Health Care Professionals (HCPs)\, enabling them to effectively incorporate physical activity within their clinical care. \nThe training will be led by Michelle Turner (nursing and Long-Term Condition Specialist). \n  \nWhen is the event? \nThe PACC training takes place on Thursday 11th March 2027 from 12:00-13:30. \nWhere will the event be held? \nThe training takes place online – a calendar invite and joining link will be sent to you the day before the event. The PACC training will be interactive so please make sure you have access to a camera and microphone on your device. \nWho is the event for? \nThis training is for anyone working within health who has direct contact with patients.
