DESCRIPTION:This is a two day course for all practitioners working in Primary Care or in Minor Injury/Urgent Care areas. \nMSK complaints find their way on to our lists in many different guises. Patients present with painful ankles\, elbows\, shoulders\, and backs to name a few\, and in many cases\, patients have not seemingly injured themselves or described having an injury or accident. \nWe also see\, lacerations\, burns\, splinters\, lumps and swellings\, bruises\, inflammation\, and cellulitis in our day-to-day work. \nAre you confident and competent in their management? Do you know when to refer in or request an x-ray? DESCRIPTION:Date: Monday 7 September 2026 \nTime: 19:30 – 21:30 | Online via Zoom \n£7.50 to RCGP members \n£20 to Non-members \n  \nFollowing the hugely successful and popular creative writing sessions with Claire Williamson The South West Faculties wellbeing team have decided to take the sessions forward by offering them on a regular monthly basis rather than three times a year (with a break in the school summer holidays and at Christmas). \nIn order to provide these sessions there will be a very small attendance fee for each session. \nThese sessions are open to all and you do not have to have attended a course with Claire previously. \nWe will continue to offer three FREE sessions with Claire once a year in addition to these sessions. \nClaire Williamson \nOur tutor\, Claire Williamson\, freelance poet and writer\, will guide you gently through these writing sessions. \nThe process is much more about the content than the craft. If you write regularly\, or you haven’t written creatively since school\, don’t worry – these sessions will employ creative writing techniques and responses to texts\, quotes and images to support your wellbeing. \nEach session is stand-alone\, attendance at previous sessions not required. You will need to register for each session. \nWriting has been proven to boost your immune system and reduce stress. The sessions will provide both engagement and escape\, as you find words\, voice and encouragement from others.

This must take place before the Trainee can undertake any of the practical elements of the Cervical Sample Taker Training programme.  \nMentors of Trainees must hold a valid PIN and have undertaken a Sample Taking Foundation or Update course within the last 3 years.  For the full list of eligibility criteria please read the Mentor Guide. \nInvitations to this session will be sent on receipt of the Mentor Information Form – this is sent in the first instance to the Trainee who will send it to the nominated professional in practice.  \nNOTE – Attendance at this session is MANDATORY unless certain criteria are met and Mentor absence is agreed in advance with the CSTT Administrator.  If an additional Mentor Introduction session is required to ensure full compliance with government guidelines\, a fee of £25 will be charged to cover administration and educator costs and facilitation. The guidance was updated in 2023 and our initial training sessions include the following: \n  \n\nThe NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nThe background to cervical screening\nOrganisation of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme\nEquality of access to cervical screening\nUnderstanding the test results\nAnatomy and physiology of the pelvic organs\nPractical aspects and professional responsibilities of taking cervical samples\n\n  \nTrainees will receive initial theory and practical training with our Clinical Educators before completing the rest of the programme by undertaking supported procedures in practice with their Mentor.  The whole programme can take up to 6 months to complete\, but can take as little as 6 weeks if there are sufficient appointments available to the Trainee. \nLearning and Development Centre provides a detailed programme of work to follow\, a Training Portfolio and Training Handbook\, and professional support for Sample Taker Trainees and their Mentors throughout the programme. DESCRIPTION:Aim\nThe aim of this workshop is to equip managers with the knowledge\, skills and strategies to effectively manage some of the more common challenging staffing situations that line managers encounter. During the workshop we will consider employees who are not performing in their role; employees with high levels of short-term absence; employees who are disruptive and employees who display a negative attitude. \nWho should attend the workshop\n\nTeam leaders\, line managers and supervisors\n\nLearning outcomes\nDuring the workshop we will cover: \n\nWhy we need to manage challenging situations\nHow to give effective feedback – a model that can be applied in any situation\nHow to identify an employee not performing in their role\nHow to start an informal performance management\nprocess\, using a Performance Improvement Plan\nHow to effectively manage employees with high levels of short-term absence\nWhat you can and cannot do as an employer\nManaging employees who are disruptive and display a negative attitude\nUnderstanding motivations\nApplying a ‘firm but fair’ management style\n\nWorkshop format\nThe format will be informal and participative – everyone has an important contribution to make to the discussions. \nA typical workshop will cover: \n\nManagement theory and research input from the trainer\nLearning from our shared experiences\nSmall group work to discuss and share ideas\n\nZoom joining instructions will be sent as part of the meeting invitations unless the organisation prefers to use its own video conferencing facility.  Copies of the slides will be sent out after each workshop. \nThis workshop can also be run in-house please email info@generalpracticetraining.co.uk and we will be pleased to chat to you.

DESCRIPTION:Aim of the webinar:  \nThe webinar – hosted by Kernow Local Medical Committee – will provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding of how to summarise a medical record\, understanding the importance of an accurate historical record.  They will be guided through the process of how to organise the medical record being confident they are summarising correctly and in line with the Good Practice Guidelines for Electronic Patient Records\, V4\, 2011. \nKey objectives/Agenda: \n\nWhat is meant by “summarising” – its significance and purpose in primary care.\nA suggested guide to the summarising process.\nCommon pitfalls when summarising.\nQuality assurance.\n\nCourse Overview:   \nThis webinar will look at what we mean by ‘summarising’ – its significance and purpose in primary care. A suggested guide to the process of summarising will be covered by the session\, enabling best practice to be achieved.
