Frailty and CGA masterclass: Longer, Better Lives for Patients — and an Easier, More Fulfilling Job for You

Frailty is the single most important long-term condition in the NHS—driving more hospital admissions, higher mortality, and greater social care costs than almost anything else. It hides in plain sight, often undiagnosed until crisis hits.

But frailty is not inevitable. With early identification and a single, well-delivered Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA), delivered in the community we can help older people live longer, live better—and at the same time, cut the workload for health and care teams.

Suitable for: Professionals working in Health and Social Care

Study Day Aims: To increase skills and knowledge with regard to the identification and management of older people with frailty, leading to the improved population health of older people which translates into reduced healthcare utilisation.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Why frailty matters

2. How to diagnose frailty

3. How to treat it

4. Frailty and its impact on long term conditions management

5. Frailty and the medication review

6. Diagnosis of dementia and management of patient with agitation

7. How to do a CGA in general practice using a multidisciplinary team with worked examples

Workshops and case studies will be introduced throughout the session to provide real-world examples and consolidate learning.

Liquid refreshments will be provided on arrival and part-way through the afternoon.
