Resuming Spirometry - A Practical Guide - 23rd June 2022, 9.30am to 12.00am.

Course Aim:
To revise best practice for carrying out spirometry tests in the primary care and to discuss how to resume this service in the context of waiting list and increased infection and prevention measures.
This interactive two-hour
virtual training session which will include quizzes and videos and will provide guidance and resources for
Healthcare Professionals who are planning to reintroduce lung function testing
to their practice area.
The training is delivered by
Judith Magowan, Long-Term Condition Lead Nurse at Okehampton Medical Centre and
Nurse Educator. Judith has been managing patients with respiratory conditions
in primary care for over 30 years and providing spirometry training HCPs for
more than 10 years. Judith set up a diagnostic respiratory clinic in practice
and is on the ARTP register. She has worked as a practical assessor for the
ARTP.
Learning outcomes
•
To
revise the best practice for carrying out spirometry.
•
To
assess the quality of traces and reject traces that do not meet BTS standards
so that the reliability and reproducibility of traces can be assured.
•
To
identify suitable patients and stratify waiting list for lung function testing.
•
To
describe and apply infection control measures to reduce risk of cross
infection.
•
To
assess the suitability of patients for testing and exclude contraindications.
•
To
carry out pre-test quality assurance measures of equipment.
This course is going to be delivered virtually. Delegates will be sent the meeting details in the week prior to the course starting.
