Tricia Smith and Emma Edwards present Flu and Covid-19 training for General Practice Staff new to immunisations or returning to immunisations after a prolonged interval. This 3 hour session will include:
The flu programme for 50 to 64 years
COVID-19 programme
Legal aspect of vaccination including the process of consent
The importance of the cold chain
Correct administration of vaccination
Adverse effects following vaccination and how to recognise and treat anaphylaxis
This course will be suitable for phlebotomists, pharmacy technicians, HCAs and registered staff.
The current immunisation training standards have been reviewed on 8th December 2020 and the groups who can vaccinate has been expanded. This is to support general practice to increase their workforce to deliver the COVID-19 vaccination programme. The key principles within the immunisation training standards will still be adhered to in the training sessions. Further training will be available in the New Year for staff who do not have direct patient contact for example administrative staff.
This training will be presented virtually.
