Training and Clinical Support Opportunities in End of Life Care (for
Domiciliary Care Workers)
I am thrilled to be writing to you to inform you of
Rowcroft Hospice’s offer of free training, support and advice in end of life
care for domiciliary care agencies in Torbay and South Devon. We were
successful in our application for funding for ‘Winter Pressures’, which enables
us to offer you this package of support over the next twelve months.
The aim of the package is to develop individual and community
resilience through effective end of life personal care delivered by trained,
supported, confident and competent domiciliary care workers.
The package includes the following:
5 days free training in end of life care for one of your domiciliary care workers (see enclosure for further details
including dates and information on how to book) to become a link worker in
end of life care. The training will be
underpinned by the national skills for health/care core EoLC
competency framework and the five principles of end of life care (to include:
recognising dying, communication skills, comfort measures and care in last days
of life, and those needs identified by staff).
Please note: places are limited and will be given on a first come first served
basis. Bookings close on 17 February
Career development and
clinical skills training passport opportunities.
Two days placement for your link worker: one with the Hospice
at Home service and one in our inpatient unit, working alongside hospice staff.
Opportunities for your chosen link worker to attend
monthly clinical supervision from an experienced clinical supervisor.
The provision of verbal and
practical supervisory hands-on advice/support in the end of life client’s home
booked via our dedicated Senior health care assistant for the project between
7:30 and 3pm.
We are looking forward to working more closely
together through your trained link worker to enhance patient’s experiences at
the end of life for those being cared for in their own homes.
In addition to this training, we will be setting up a
project steering group and would welcome care managers input into this. Please
let me know if you would be interested in joining the project steering group, which
would require the commitment to attend 4 meetings over 12 months by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
