I am a Project Worker on the Clinical Placement Expansion Programme (CPEP) and my role is to support Primary and Social Care organisations to provide placements for healthcare student, giving them the opportunity to experience the patient journey outside of a hospital setting and learn about the opportunities within health and social care. Supporting students also enables GP practices and care homes to showcase the high quality service they deliver and shape the future workforce.
I am also the Nursing Associate Lead for Primary Care within Devon Training Hub , which involves promoting the Nursing Associate role to PCNs in partnership with education providers and supporting PCNs to develop their understanding of the role , scope of practice and preparation routes, including funding opportunities. The Nursing Associate role is a welcome addition to the Primary Care team, with great potential to enhance service provision and support professional development of individuals and teams. My role is to assist PCNs and individuals interested in this role , providing a link to the Training Hub and to support Nursing associates both during training and post registration.
I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years and the majority of my career has been spent working with Primary Care as a District Nurse , working in clinical practice, management and nurse education. Most recently I worked as a Community Nurse in Lynton, North Devon within the integrated nursing team who provide nursing care to people at home alongside treatment room, minor injury and practice nursing services to the local population.
